2014 Lamborghini Gallardo

The Gallardos are the most successful cars in Lamborghini's 49-year history, almost 13,000 rolling out of showrooms since their 2003 introduction. That's almost beneath notice for the Volkswagen Group, Lamborghini's parent, but it's a lot in the world of quarter-million-dollar exotics. And of course Lamborghini wants those robust sales to continue. Which means tantalizing new customers. 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo.
Lambo cosmetic surgeons have nipped and tucked the Gallardo design to keep it looking new, and that's what this Paris debutante represents a freshening, while the factory at Sant'Agata, Italy, begins setting up for the next generation, expected for model year 2014. When the 2013 LP560-4 goes on sale in November, it will sport new front and rear end treatments calculated to make this Lambo "even more aggressive and more extreme."
The most immediately recognizable change is an expanded grille that spans the entire front end, with bigger air intakes ahead of the front wheels, presumably enhancing brake cooling. The grille incorporates the triangular and trapezoidal elements that distinguish the Gallardo, and the updates are set off by a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels, matte black with polished silver spokes. 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo Engine.
The triangles and trapezoids of the going-away view have also had some attention, and the air intake sheltering the engine bay is a bit bigger, for improved efficiency, according to Lamborghini. While there's just enough surface newness to distinguish this 2013 update from previous offerings, at least among Gallardo cognoscenti, what lies beneath is basically the same. This is no bad thing. Allied with its six-speed automated manual transmission, the LP560-4's 5.2-liter direct injection V-10 distributes 542 horsepower to all four wheels, snarling its way from 0 to 60 mph in the low 3-second range attracting considerable attention as it does so. Of course that's what the Gallardo is all about an attention-getting device that also happens to be a seriously competent road rocket.
