This supercar is powered by a twin-turbocharged flat-6

new one could be called “the noisemakerâ€. Testing in the snow of
northern Scandinavia, one can hear the GT2 unmistakeably far from the
distance, but for the true car fan it is rather music to the ears. Porsche 911 GT2 2002.
While the 4WD 997 Turbo delivers 480 bhp, the rear wheel drive GT2 will come up with at least 500 bhp. Weighing some 100 to 150kg less than the Turbo, the GT2 promises to become the ultimate driving machine. Ok, Porschies, have at it. Spies captured the next in line among 997 models, the 911 GT2 which some sources denied even existing. For most enthusiasts, more telling than mere photos of this porkowski would be a covert weigh-in by spies.
It’s said the en-lightened 9iner (via a shopping trip to Carbon Fiber n’ Things) will have at least 520 horses on call, with rumors of 550 rampant, and it may be the first production-line 911 to exceed 200 mph as a matter of course. Until Porsche builds the Carrera GT (a late-2003 model with an open cockpit and a six-liter V-10 engine that will produce 558 horsepower), you’ll have to make due with the GT2, for now the fastest street-legal Porsche on earth.
The GT2 is essentially a Porsche 911 Turbo with every gram of fat stripped out of it (220 pounds were deleted by cutting out items like the rear jump seats and the sunroof, and by using lighter materials like ceramic brake discs rather than metallic ones). The GT2 also gets 456 horsepower (the 911 Turbo produces 415 hp), thanks to increased turbo boost and larger intercoolers for the turbos. 2002 Porsche 911 GT2.
Lighter and more powerful, the GT2 is now certainly faster, clocking nearly the same acceleration rate to 60 mph as the far more expensive Murciélago (0-62 mph–0-100 kilometers per hour–in about four seconds), and can achieve a top speed of 195 mph. Porsche engineers have made sure that you’ll just about be unable to unstick the GT2′s tail end during a day drive on your favorite street, thanks to a fierce suspension layout.
